You Are Loved

This layout is created for Kraft+ October challenge, I can see clearly Now kraftpluschallenges. The Twist is Use something see-through on the layout, ie Vellum, Plastic, Glass, Bubble Wrap, etc. For
this layout I used a Word transparency that I had in my stash for nearly 10 years.
This photo was taken sometime in 2015 when we went on a one-day trip to Genting Highlands. Whenever we want to feel some cool weather, we would drive up to Genting highlands and parked the car at the parking lot. We then proceed to take the Bubble Car up to Genting Highlands for a short break. All we wanted was the cool air.

So Happy Always

My daugther and her cousin were born four months apart. She was born in September 1999, towards the end of the Millenium, while her cousin in January 2000, a real Millineum child.. Both belong to the Y-Generation with a touch of the Z-Generation. Both are headstrong but they both love one another to pieces.
This photo was taken during the Hari Raya Celebration in 2013 where my sister, Asmah, and her family managed to squeeze some time to celebrate with mum. It was a lovely celebration but the convergence of my siblings in one entirety is now a thing of the past. There will always be one or two siblings missing on the first day of the Eid celebration. This is just one rare moment where my sister and I were able to come together on this auspicious day.
This photo of them shows a beautiful relationship sealed since they were babies. They can be headstrong, they can throw tantrums, they can have their disagreements, deep down I know they really love and care about one another.
I create this layout for Stucksketches August 15, 2017 Challenge. I really love the simple sketch, below:

Using the colours of the dress the two girls wore that day, I came out with this simple layout:

Remember This Moment

This layout is created for the "Home and Scrap" August Use Your Stash Challenge. The theme for the challenge is outlined below:

August Prompt: STRIPS - washi, paper strips, string, ribbons or braids. Use them in straight lines, weave them, plait them, ink them, or whatever. It's time to bust some of those little straight bits of stash. If you have half a truckload of washi rolls, now is your chance to showcase some of it. Or what about those lovely strips that we cut off the ends of our patterned papers? I know I have an abundance of them. Get creative and have some fun.

I have an abundance of Strips in my stash and this is a good way of using them up or reducing their number. I love this challenge because it allows me to use my stash irregardless of makes. I really enjoy mixing and matching all the way through. Also I do not have to worry whether the papers are latest in the market or not. Most importantly, I love the design or I wouldn't have purchased them in the first place. I hope I can get away from my hoarding habits and start using.

Here is the layout. This is a  continuation of my Korean trip which I am creating an album for. I am so much behind but I hope to catch-up soon. for this layout I use up most of the strips in my stash.

Let's Go On An Adventure Together

This layout is a continuation from our 2015 Korean Trip. A rare family selfie taken from one of the wings of Kyongbok Palace. This is a C&S layout for Kaisercraft August Challenge and the theme for this challenge is COGS!

I was delighted to have the Factory 42 Collection papers which I bought two weeks ago when Spotlight was having a 30% Storewide sales. I took the opportunity to buy this collection (even though I already miles long paper collections) because I really like it. When I saw this challenge, I was thrilled to bits as I can use this collection immediately without feeling guilty.

Here is the layout for the Challenge and some close-ups. In addition to the Cogs from the Collectibles, I used Steampunk Gears as an added effect.

Celebrate 16

Finally I got to create a layout of my daughter's 16th birthday photos.  These photos were taken at Great Eastern Mall when Zahra''s friends decided to throw a surprise birthday bash for her. One of her friends collaborated with me to bring her to Great Eastern Mall on that day, October 4, 2015. Even though we are regular visitors to Great Eastern Mall, to ask her to wear something nice without arousing suspicion was the toughest of all. Worst, for me to make a straight face. Somehow she suspected something eventually and she chose to play along.

Imagine her surprise when her friends showed up at the designated area with balloons and other items awaiting her at the Nail Parlour. She had always wanted a manicure and that was her best surprise birthday gift. I really would like to thank Humairaa, Ain, and Atiqah for preparing this surprise birthday do for her. The sad part is, her very special friend did not turn up.

For this layout I used the Scrap Our Stash july-tic-tac-toe-stash-challenge. I decided to use the third row grid, that is, Striped Paper, Tag and Banner.

Here is the layout:

Location - The Great Eastern Mall, Jalan Ampang

Supplies - Kaisercraft On The Dot
Clover 3D Scrapbook Borders - Banner
Black Bazzil Cardstock for matting

Kaisercraft Stencil

You & Me

This layout is for a Recipe challenge at https://www.facebook.com/events/326269704477693/ of Home & Scraped. I have not been participating in Recipe challenges for a long time and now this is a good opportunity for me to use up my stash and photos.

Here is the Recipe for the challenge:

Let's cook up a page :-)
Ingredients:
1 sheet cardstock or paper
2 pink things
2 tags
4 different papers
a pinch of embossing (dry or otherwise)
3 bits of doodling
a title & some journaling
a generous sprinkling of embellishments
ink or paint lightly dusted over
Method: Place all together in a bowl and mix thoroughly to combine. Spread out randomly (or evenly if desired) and bake till done.

Basically I kept as close to the recipe as possible but I opted out one Recipe, i.e. Embossing because I don't have any in my stash. This is the only item I didn't use.
I realized later I've used more than 2 pink things. I guess when the girls wore something pink, it is not difficult to be sidetracked. All the items used for this layout are from my stash and I am happy to use them up, even the tiny pieces. A really wonderful challenge.

Here is my layout and some close-ups:

Love This Moment

This is a lengthy blog post because I include the history of Jabal (Mount Thur (Thawr) that can be seen in the background.

This layout is for Stuck? Sketches June 15, 2017 Challenge HERE. Using the sketch below:

I came out with this layout:

Supplies: UW Scrapbooking Paper
Various Kaisercraft Papers
Bazzil Cardstock
Momoyo Flowers
Kaisercraft Stencil
Reeves White Gesso
Semco Acrylic Paint
Zig Pen
Kaiser Tags and Embellies
Other Embellies from Stash

This photo was taken on 20th December 2015 during one of the tour in the itinerary, ie a visit to Jabal (Mount) Thur or Thawr. This is the mountain that contains the cave in which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) sought refuge for three days and nights from the Quraysh, as they left Makkah and emigrated to Madinah.

When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived at the cave on Mount Thawr, Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) entered first to clear away anything that might injure the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him). He found a few holes and stuffed them with pieces of cloth. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) then entered and went to sleep on Abu Bakr’s (may Allah be pleased with him) lap. Suddenly, something stung Abu Bakr’s (may Allah be pleased with him) foot, but he did not twitch, fearing he would wake the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him). The pain was so intense that tears began to run down his cheeks and onto the Prophet’s (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) face. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) woke up and saw that Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was in pain. He applied his spittle on the injury and the pain disappeared.

For three consecutive nights the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) remained hidden in the cave. During this period, Abu Bakr’s (may Allah be pleased with him) son, Abdullah, would pass his nights nearby. The young man would return to Makkah very early in the morning so that the Quraysh had no idea that he had slept elsewhere. Each day in Makkah he collected information about the activities of the Quraysh, and each night went back to Mount Thawr to inform the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) and his father Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him).

Abu Bakr’s (may Allah be pleased with him) slave, Amir bin Fuhayra (may Allah be pleased with him), would graze Abu Bakr’s (may Allah be pleased with him) goats near the cave so that both men could drink fresh milk. Early the next morning Amir would drive the goats back to Makkah along the same route that Abu Bakr’s (may Allah be pleased with him) son took, to obscure his footprints.

On seeing the spider’s web and dove nest, the Quraysh concluded that no one could have entered the cave and left. Describing this scene the Quran mentions in Surah Taubah: “If ye help not (your leader), (it is no matter): for Allah did indeed help him, when the Unbelievers drove him out: he had no more than one companion; they two were in the cave, and he said to his companion, “Have no fear, for Allah is with us”: then Allah sent down His peace upon him, and strengthened him with forces which ye saw not, and humbled to the depths the word of the Unbelievers. But the word of Allah is exalted to the heights: for Allah is Exalted in might, Wise.“ [9:40]

After three days when they learnt that the search by the Quraysh had petered out they left the cave and headed towards Yathrib (Madinah). Asma (may Allah be pleased with her), the daughter of Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came to them bringing food for the journey. When they were about to start she could find nothing to tie it to their saddles and so she undid her waistband, tore it in two, wore half and tied the food with the other half. This ready solution won her praise from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) who also named her ‘She of the two waistband’. And after that the Muslims knew her by that name.

3 Dara (3 Young Ladies)

Giving myself the confidence to participate in Kaisercraft challenge, my favourite manufacturing company. Unfortunately, my supplies are not so current but I do love their pattern papers, nevertheless. Not to mention, other products, too.
The theme for June's challenge is Circles and I created this simple layout with as many circles I can think off. The doily is the exception. It is not a Kaiser product.

CIRCLES!

Using the pattern paper from the Expressions paper pad as background, I stenciled the clock from Kaiser Quartet stencil, and create other little circles from remnants of various other Kaiser collections like Party Animals, Bubblegum Hills collection and Fairies collection.
The photo is of the Child (in white shirt) with her close friends after finishing their singing session at Red Box, Pavilion. One of them decided to stop by at Starbucks for a chat and prolonging their 'together' session. We, mothers, decided to go somewhere for a short while leaving the girls with their alone time. This is what I came out with.

Beautiful

I created this layout to fulfill two challenges :
1) Home and Scrapped "June Use Your Stash Challenge". The prompt for this challenge is Stripes. - https://www.facebook.com/events/1358312617584020/

For this challenge we can use anything that is Stripes - pattern papers, embellishments, or use paint to create Stripes. I decided to dig into my stash and I find dozens of old and unused Striped pattern papers. I always never want to use stripes because I do find them a bit intimidating. Eventually I used three different brands of Striped pattern papers and I really am happy about it.

As I scrolled through other challenges, I find that Colourful Creations encourage us to use old stuffs, too, with a twist. Have something new added. Both challenges fit the bill of using from your stash. A really good way to reduce items that I had been hoarding for years.

2) Colourful Creations "Somethng Old Something New - anothercolorfulcreation

Don't Forget To Smile

My first layout for the month of May. I created this layout for the White With 1 Challenge plus Deep Black HERE. Sounds easy, right? Before my mojo runs away again, I decided to work on this challenge almost immediately. The not so easy part was to select the photo. Going through the album of photos which I had arranged by theme, I came across this photo of, who else, my darling daughter. This photo was taken during our trip to Johor Bharu in December 2012 but I love this photo of the Child smiling and looking straight into the camera. That was then. Now is a different story altogether.

and just to inspire you a little more - how about this moodboard to grab your attention. Black cats anyone?

Dad's Legacy

These two swings mean a lot to the family. They were lovingly crafted by my father for the benefit of his grandchildren. It started with the plain wooden plank he made while he was in the Navy. Two or three years later, I brought home a piece of wooden plank which was part of a shipment from US. It was the only piece that was not thrown away yet and I ask my workmate for that piece of plank. Not knowing what to really do with it, eventually I brought it home to Dad and told him to do whatever he wanted to. A month later, I came home to see the seated swing. Dad said, it would be easier for his younger than four-year old grandchildren. He really had safety of his grandchildren in mind then.

Both swings had seen a lot of fights between the grandchildren, laughter, love especially from dad and many meetings were held here. These were the centre of 'congregation' for the children, grandchildren, friends and/or relatives children. This was always the place to be for the children and grandchildren.

Alas, three years after dad's passing, the swings became a legacy. In its place, a store room was erected where mum store the bulky household items. I really am glad to have taken a photo of the swings that once held a piece of our history and our memories.

This layout is created for Home & Scrapped Stash Busting Challenge with the Prompt "History".
