Love

It's nice that today, February 1, 2013, is a holiday - Federal Territory Day. Taking a break from housework, I decided to browse the challenges for February.

Many of the challenges I sighted for the month of February is related to LOVE. This layout is for Colourful Creations "Say it with Words" and the word is LOVE. It's not that difficult to find photos relating to this theme and to kick-start the month's challenge, I decided to use this photo of my daughter and her cousins. The are a bunch of rowdy young kids and they always have plenty of ideas up their sleeve. They enjoy being together and they really love one another very much - and not to mention their occassional bickering. It's just a simple layout put together for these lovely children whose parents are my younger sister and youngest brother, respectively.

Location: Melaka
Supplies: Kaisercraft Love Notes Collection (PP/Chipboard Heart/Tag/Border/Stickers)
Momoyo Flowers
Momoyo Brads

Illy

To be honest, this is the most challenging layout I've ever done. I am not quite happy with the end result, though, but then, rules are rules. The only time I can break this rule is to create another layout in another challenge and see what I can come out with. I am sure Brenshevia do not mind my using this sketch again.
This layout is for Colourful Creations SYTYCS04 challenge and the rules are as follows:

YOU MUST USE:
  • Diecut (bought or handmade)`SMILIAR TO THE ONE IN THE SKETCH!!!
  • 3 photos
  • colors in combo ONLY (Color Combo: Colors: White, Black, Cream, Grey)

The sketch

Select ONE from the list below to use
Masking
Bling
Brads
Flowers
Stars

NOTE PLEASE READ: you can ONLY use on of the items listed above, however you can use more than one of that item for example, if you choose to use stars, you can use more than one star but you CANNOT use anything else on the list so then your list of items would be (diecut, 3 photos, color combo and stars) nothing more.

Location: Kuala Kubu Bharu
Supplies: Kaisercraft the 13th Hour collection; Paper boutique; Coredinations Cardstock
Momoyo Flowers
Foam Alphas
Decorative Scissors
The most difficult process in creating this layout is not to be able to embellish it with only the required item. As it was too bland, I decided to add those chunky flowers for added dimension. I hope I'll make it through this round, though.
I like this sketch. I may use it again later to create another layout. I'll see what the DTs in colourful Creations will have in store for February.

Blessed

I am truly blessed because I still have my mom. She means the world to me and I really love her very much. I created this layout for Colourful Creations "Say It With Words Challenge and the Word for January 2013 is BLESSED. I wasn't sure which photos to choose because I am blessed for having my husband, my daughter, my sisters, my brothers, my extended family, my job, my health, etc., etc. The Hearts that I bought from Wedding Favours changed all that. My heart was calling out to me to scrap this photo of myself with my dearest mommy. Thank you to my brother, Muhammad Nasser for this photo. As I grow in age, my time with my mom is very limited and photos with her is getting rare. Here's the layout:
Location: Melaka
Supplies: Kaisercraft Love Note, Unknown from stash
Flowers - Prima
Bling from stash
American Craft Thickers Alpha
Momoyo Ribbon
Momoyo Brad
Decorative Lace
Doilies
Vintage Doilies from Papercraft Mag
Kaisercraft Rubons
I also entered this layout to Sketches4all Challenge under Lisa's Monthly Mayhem and her January Challenge was "Out With The Old, In With The New". Here's the term & conditions:

OK, ladies! Time to kick off a new year with some more scrapping mayhem. In keeping with the recent New Year festivities, I am challenging you to use up your old supplies and show off your new goodies.

Rules:
1. Project must include at least one item you have had in your stash for a year or more AND at least one item that is new in the last 30 days (come on - admit it... do any of us really go more than 30 days without adding SOMETHING new to our stash?)
2. The new item can include paper, embellishments, ribbons, stamps, ink, even new tools you may have acquired in the past month (e.g., I was lucky to get a Silhouette Cameo from Santa that you can bet I'll be using).
3. The old item should be something that you are truly using up - paper, embellishments, etc. Since the challenge is partly about "out with the old" the idea is to reduce your stash (to make room for new stuff - ha ha) so just using an old tool or old stamp isn't good enough.
4. Any type of project is OK - layouts, cards, tags, altered items, mixed media
5. Project must be new as of today
6. Project must be posted to this thread and to the gallery by January 31 11:59pm PST
7. OK to combine with other challenges

All of my supplies with the exception of the vintage doilies (2 days old) and the hearts (one day old) were from 2010 to 2012.

Street Artist

This man has devoted himself to 20+ years as a Street Artist at this Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque, earning his keep selling his beautiful work of art to tourists. He was holding one of his completed work ready to be bought by appreciative tourists. My daughter preferred the serene Village Scene and at my daughter's request, he drew the scenery for her. My daughter is now the proud owner of this lovely piece which I paid for RM30 (approximately USD10.
I created this layout for Becky of Pagemaps Fancy Pants Love Note Sketch contest. Here's the sketch:

Stop it Mom

Another layout for SYTYCS challenge at Colorful Creations. This challenge #3 using the sketch below:

In addition to the sketch we have to have Border Punch, 2 pp, Handmade Pinwheel, Washi Tape and 2+ photos in the layout.

Location: J.A. Residence Hotel, Johor Bharu
Supplies: PP - Kaisercraft Mumma Bushka, Paper Boutique
Flowers - Prima, Basic Grey
Wahi Tapes (4 different designs)
Momoyo Brads
Shabby Chic Buttons
American Craft Thickers
Handmade Pinwheel from remnants of papers
Carla Craft Border Pinch

These photos showed Zahra' being extremely annoyed and irritable for 2 reasons:
1) Her non-stop paparazi mom; and
2) Her first attempt at making toasts end-up with disastrous results
As a result, she was moody and not very co-operative at all. Her morning was totally spoilt; that is, until mom took over the role of preparing the breakfast for her.

DANCE - SYTYCS02

This layout is for Colorful Creations 2nd So You Think you Can Scrap Challenge. Somehow I just don't feel overly excited with the finished layout. Probably I am so out of focus when I created this layout. I was thinking of mum and I really miss her very much.
Here's the sketch:

And here's the layout. I chose a photo I took in 2009 of a Javanese dance which was performed during Inacraft - an Indonesian Craft Fair at Kuala Lumpur Convention Center. I love the colourful costumes and the graceful movements of the dancers.

Too Tame

This is my first layout for Home and Scrapped site as well as Scrappy Sketches Blog challenge. Heather has some beautiful sketches on her blog and this is my first attempt using her January sketch.
These photos were part of the Bird Park visit in Jan 2011. Hubby was feeding the Lorikeets which were tame enough to feed off your hands and love to be stroked, too. We paid RM2 (approximately Aussie 60 cents) for the food. After getting over the awkwardness of handling these birds, we were able to relax and enjoy their company immensely.
Location: Bird Park, Kuala Lumpur
Supplies : PP - Kaisercraft Cheers / Creative imaginations Mistletoe Swirls
Kaisercraft wooden Flourishes
Kaisercraft Seaside Tag
Clover Grand Adhesion
Momoyo Alphas
Momoyo Flower
Washi Tape

Sketch 01-13
I also entered this layout for Colorful Creations Random Wednesday January 8, 2013 to January 15, 2013. The challenge is to use a holiday paper in a non-traditional way.

#FMSPHOTODAY January 2013

Happy New Year my blog friends. I am going to give this Themed photos session another go and see how far I can get along. Here's the list provided by Chantelle @http://fatmumslim.com.au/january-2013-photo-a-day-lets-do-this-thing/. To all photo enthusiasts, you give this a try. Sometimes we need a prompt to get us motivated. This is not a challenge but a fun day-to-day activity. I shall post all of my photos @ http://myphotostrack.blogspot.com/. Appreciate it very much when you do stop by. Here's the list:
I have unashamedly cut and paste the information from Chantelle's blog for easy reference.

How to play!

Playing along with photo a day is super easy:
♥ Check out the January photo a day list.
♥ Each day look at the daily prompt and take a photo according to whatever the prompt is. For example for day 1 the prompt is TODAY. As it’s New Year’s Day some might be sleeping off a hangover, others might be fulfilling their New Year’s resolutions. Take a photo of what it is you chose to do on the first day of 2013.
♥ Once you’ve taken the photo it’s time to share it. There are loads of places you can share it. See below for more details.
♥ Check out other people’s photos. You can browse through them on my Facebook page. Or on Instagram or Twitter just search for the #FMSphotoaday hashtag to see them all.

Where to play?

There are loads of places to be social and share your photos with the #FMSphotoaday community:
Instagram: Just upload your photo, use a fancy filter, add a caption and the hashtag #FMSphotoaday and then share.
Facebook: There are a few options here. You can simply share on your own personal page, among your own friends. Or you can upload to my page’s wall, or I’ve created a Facebook group for 2013. You can join it here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/FMSphotoaday/
Blog: If you have a blog, you could share each day or do a wrap up of all the photos at the end of the month.
Tumblr: Add your daily photos to your Tumblr feed.
Flickr: I’ll be playing around more with Flickr in the New Year. You can get their app {for free if I remember correctly} and share your photos there, or upload on their web version. We also have a photo a day group here.
Twitter: You can share on Twitter by uploading the photo and sharing the hashtag #FMSphotoaday. Easy.
Now I know a few people are concerned about the Instagram changes and want to explore other places to share. You can definitely use the above platforms. I’m also going to explore some other apps as well, particularly EyeEm.

How do I remember the prompts?

There are a few ways you can grab the list or remember the prompts:
♥ Come back here each day and click the button on the right-hand side to check out the list.
♥ Right-click on the list above and save it to your desktop. Or if you’re on your phone you could take a screenshot and save it as your wallpaper. {To screenshot click the power button and home button at the same time}.
♥ The very fabulous Doug has created a calendar for us. You can have the prompts added to your phone’s calendar by clicking here. It will open your calendar program and ask if you want to add the calendar. This works on iPhone, iPad, Android phone, Mac and PC. Alternatively you can view the calendar online in your browser here.

What’s the fab four?

Each day I’ll be picking my favourite four on Instagram and Facebook, and sharing them to my Facebook and Instagram. To have your photos in the running you can just share them to my Facebook page or the FMS Photo A Day group or the #FMSphotoaday Instagram feed, or both.

What do the prompts mean?

There are no rules when playing along with photo a day, you can be creative as you like! Interpret the prompt as you please. For those that need a little help, some more suggested details about each prompt are below:
1. Today: It’s the first day of the new year, so take a photo of how you spent the day.
2. Something new: Take a photo of something new. Something physical, the sunrise, a new attitude. Be creative!
3. Heart: Take a photo of a heart, or a heart shape.
4. The view from here: With many people around the world on holidays, it’s a great way to see where people are. Take a picture of your view from where ever you are.
5. Movement: Get moving and take a photo. You could take a photo of cars whizzing by, somebody jumping or you could even take a run and take photos as you’re jogging along.
6. Mine: Take a photo of something that’s yours. Perhaps it’s a thing, something you’re proud of or a person you call ‘yours’.
7. Street: Take a photo of a streetscape.
8. Something beginning with ‘T’: Take a photo of something today starting with the letter ‘T’.
9. Paper: Take a photo of something made from paper. Perhaps it’s someone reading the newspaper, or it could be wrapping paper. Think outside the square.
10. One o’clock: Take a photo of whatever you’re doing in the hour between one and two. It could be in the middle of the night {you party animal, you!} or during the day.
11. Water: Perhaps it’s the beach, a river, water in a glass, the bath {keep it PG!} or even the rain.
12. Surprise: I love when I stumble across coins when I’m walking. It’s a lovely surprise. That would be a lucky photo for me. Can you think of a way to capture surprise?
13. Circle: Look as you go about today for things shaped in circles. Is it the tyres on a bus? A big sign? Or something else?
14. Something yellow: Find something yellow in your travels today and take a photo.
15. An ordinary moment: Choose an ordinary moment and capture it. Is it you grabbing your daily coffee? Or playing with the kids? Or something that you do often and consider it as kinda ordinary?
16. Two things: Look for things in pairs today. Is it a lovely old couple that you see from behind? Or the salt and pepper shakers sitting on the bench? Find two things and take a photo.
17. Ready: Is it a photo of your dinner being ready? Or you ready to catch the bus? Or something else. It’s a toughy – but it will get your mind thinking!
18. Shadow: Find a shadow and shoot it. It could be your own, or a shadow of something else. Shadows look great with a black and white filter over the top {just sayin!}.
19. Delicious: What’s delicious to you? Is it the chubby cheeks of your toddler, the hunk at the gym or a cake you plan on eating for afternoon tea?
20. Something you saw: Go about your day with eyes wide open and take a photo of something you saw.
21. What you do: Do you go to school? Train elephants at the circus? Write at home? Play mum to your kids? Act as CEO to a big business? Paint in your spare time? Dance when no one is looking? Take a photo of what you do {something that makes you ‘you’} and share it.
22. Corner: It could be a sharp corner of a building, a corner of an artwork, a corner of your home or something else. Corners are everywhere. Shoot one.
23. Electric: This could be a simple photo of your toaster {but get creative} or something else electric.
24. Stripes: Look for stripes in your everyday. They could be in the zebra crossing on the road, or in your outfit or somewhere else.
25. Landscape: Step back and take a photo of a landscape near you. Or even take a little trip just for the photo. Would be nice to explore your town for a beautiful photo.
26. Together: There are many definitions for together. One is: In or into a single group, mass, or place. Take a photo of together, whichever definition you’d like to use.
27. Sun: Whether the sun is out in full force, or hiding behind the clouds today – take a photo of it. Or you could get creative and take a photo of sunlight or some other interpretation.
28. Through: Take a photo of looking through something – through the window, through the gate, through the trees… whatever you please.
29. Grow: People do it, plants do it too… get creative and take a photo of something that grows.
30. Down: Is it looking down or something that makes you feel down? Interpret it however you like.
31. Yourself: Take a photo of yourself. Or something that represents you.

HAVE FUN.  Lili
